It’s More Fun in Iligan

Shot in Hinaplanon, one of the most devastated site during Sendong.
Bayug Island Sendong Aftermath Photos
This is a repost from Iligan.org
Bayug or Bayug Island is the second most devastated in number of deaths after Hinaplanon, after the Sendong flood last December 17-18, 2011.
This island used to have a lot of houses, greens and vegetation before the disaster. Now, it looks like a ghost town, and literally as well, some people could hear wailing of people asking for help.
The first 6 photos were shot from the main Bayug. I will add shots taken inside the Bayug Island.

The flood came out towards to where I stood, destroying lives and structures approximately within its 5 kilometer wide path.

The houses are no more.

The water flow towards Iligan Bay.

This house saved about a hundred lives.

This chicken was spared.

I wonder who climbed this tree, was his life spared? The flood reached as high as about half the height of this tree.

Blogfest 2.0 Photos
This is my second time to join a blogging conference or eyeball, and my second time in a month. The first one was the Mindanao Bloggers Summit held in Iligan City last October 29, 2011.
Joining blogging events such as this is really motivational. If you’re a serious a serious blogger, you should join, be it big or small. Aside from providing encouragement and knowledge, you’ll get to meet other bloggers, from newbies to the popular ones.
Blogfest 2.0 was one of them. It was an event so hard to forget. I will join again if I’ll get the chance. The speakers were knowledgeable, also giving us a bit of laughter in a good way.
I got to see the bloggers who I only saw on their blogs. I saw for the first time Mindanao Bob, Yuga, Aileen Apollo the Google Girl, and video blogger Juana Change.

Relaxing at the Park
This is a repost from Iligan.org
After going to church in Tibanga, I decided to go to Global Steel football field to watch a one day football tournament.
The Iligan City plaza, now officially called Rizal Park is practically the center of every festivities in the city.

I always wear slippers going to the church. I arrived at 12:38 noon, even then it was still cool, thanks to God for the huge trees that surround the park for providing the cool shade.

On my left is the Christmas tree made of plastic bottles.

Zooming in the Christmas tree. If I see the Real Leaf green tea bottle, I remember Piolo Pascual.

On my right is the stage, there are teens practicing a dance number. This is like a normal activity on the stage every time I pass here.
Ang Masuya Magniwang
It’s Cebuano for “The envious gets skinny”.
That’s the best I could translate, hehehe.

I shot this inside the jeepney in Iligan City. Basically the same shot in the previous post.
